I was always physically active playing street games as a kid, being on sport teams as a teenager, teaching group exercise in my young adult life, and personal training today.
My life is revolved around being active and helping others. After receiving my Bachelor's degree in 1991, I worked as a Fitness Manager for 12 years at a large corporation. I have seen employees gain as much as 90 pounds over a one-year span, heart attack and stroke victims, suicide at the worksite, and my own aunt becoming blind from her years of diabetes and not taking care of her condition.
A major turning point in my life happened in 2002 when an employee put his life in my hands. He was on medication for diabetes and high blood pressure. He was obese and was on the brink of getting very sick. For over a year, I helped this employee with his exercise program, stress management, and gave dietary suggestions on altering his food/beverage choices. He lost 87 pounds, lost 8 inches in his waistline, increased lean muscle and lost body fat. He was shocked and wept at how much he changed throughout the year and how much better he felt. After being taken off both diabetes and high blood pressure medications, he continued to live a healthy and active lifestyle.
I wanted to open up a personal training business after experiencing the awesome feeling of changing someone's life. From 2004-2008, I was a self-employed personal trainer/aerobics instructor. In 2008, I decided to venture out on my own and opened a personal training business now known as Definition. On December 28, 2011, the business grew with an addition called, Studio X.
Definition is a private one-on-one fitness studio. The environment is clean and comfortable. Studio X is built for group exercise. When Studio X is not in use, however, it becomes an awesome functional training facility!
